is starting up in Langford, BC., to address food security issues within the municipality and in response to the Agricultural Strategy.

Langford is part of the Capital Region District (CRD) of Vancouver Island where many food-related organizations, projects and initiatives flourish on fertile farmland and in urban settings. Langford has agricultural land, and needs to play a larger role in local food production.
When the seasonal, weekly Farmers Market made it’s debut in Langford in the summer of 2008, along with the emphasis of local food throughout the CRD, it renewed interest in locally grown food here, so residents began getting together to share seeds, starters, tools, knowledge, land and resources.
can offer us opportunities to collaborate, expedite and expand local food production by connecting and networking the people, land and resources that are currently fragmented throughout the city.
has an email list, and meetings will shape the direction as interested parties contribute ideas and resources. If you wish to get involved in this effort, please join the

Without food security, we have no security, and local food production is the most vital factor to the long term health and vitality of the community.
